Forty-seven students from Woup School in Kalpetta, Wayanad district, Kerala sought medical attention after showing signs of food poisoning. The students, from Muttill, suffered from stomach cramps, vomiting, and fever. They were taken to Kainatti General Hospital for treatment on Sunday. Due to the severity of their symptoms, doctors transferred some students to the emergency care unit for further treatment.
Food Safety Department Initiates Investigation
The affected students, aged 4 to 12, ate food provided by the school on Friday and sought medical attention on Sunday due to symptoms of discomfort. The Food Safety Department visited the school and collected samples of food and water for testing. The school confirmed that the students who required medical care had consumed the school-provided meals. The school serves around 1,200 students, ranging from LKG to Grade 7. Authorities clarified that students who brought food from home were not affected. Hospital officials reported that the students are now stable and showing signs of recovery.
