Food Poisoning Incident in Kochi Leads to Closure of Catering Establishment

Report

The Food Safety Department swiftly shut down Lillie’s Kitchen, a catering establishment in north Ernakulam, after students from a special school in Kozhikode fell ill following the consumption of food provided by the business during a recreational trip. The department also revoked the establishment’s catering license due to unhygienic food preparation practices.

Boat Violations Lead to Notice

The Food Safety Department clarified that the boat used for the trip was unauthorized to distribute food. The boat lacked the necessary facilities for proper food storage and handling, prompting the department to issue a notice to the boat’s operators. The department warned that it would take further legal action if the response to the notice is unsatisfactory, ensuring compliance with food safety regulations. This incident underscores the importance of adhering to food safety guidelines, particularly in unconventional settings.
