On Tuesday, Villupuram’s Food Safety Department officials carried out surprise inspections at various food units and outlets in and around Auroville, Pondichery. This inspection was conducted to ensure the safety and quality of food products before the Auroville Marathon on February 16.
Inspection Focuses on Key Food Establishments
The team, led by District Food Safety Officer S. Sugunthan, examined over 50 establishments. Among the notable spots inspected were the Solar Kitchen, Visitors’ Center, Aurelec Cafeteria, and Bread and Chocolate. During the inspections, Mr. Sugunthan trained kitchen staff, emphasizing the importance of using head coverings to maintain hygiene. He also instructed food outlets to label their products with the production date and time to ensure better quality control, especially for daily items.
Strict Compliance Required for Upcoming Marathon
With visitors expected from across the nation for the Auroville Marathon, the authorities stressed the importance of strict adherence to food safety guidelines to ensure a smooth and safe event.
