FSDA Acts Against Contaminated Food During Navratri in Gautam Budh Nagar

Report

Officials from the Food Safety and Drug Administration (FSDA) in Gautam Budh Nagar are actively combating food adulteration to ensure quality food for the public during the Navratri festival. They disposed of approximately 100 kg of adulterated sweets from a shop in Greater Noida.

During inspections, the FSDA gathered food samples of essential items typically consumed during Navratri Puja from various stores. While checking a confectionery in the Beta 1 area, authorities discovered a significant amount of tainted chhena rasgullas, resulting in the disposal of nearly 100 kilograms of the dessert.

Sarvesh Mishra, Assistant Commissioner of Food (Second) in Gautam Budh Nagar, emphasized the importance of ensuring residents access to safe and pure food products during the festive season.

Adulteration in Navaratri Fasting Ingredients

FSDA officials collected multiple food samples from different areas in Noida and Greater Noida, including buckwheat (kuttu) flour, sago (sabudana), and vanaspati—common ingredients for Navratri fasting. They gathered specimens from the Zepto Store in Sector 46, Dhamija Grinders Pvt. Ltd. in Dadri, and a popular grocery store in Sector 22, Noida. The officials sent the samples, along with rice and laddoos from various establishments, to the lab for thorough testing.

Mishra assured that strict inspections will continue, and any violations of food safety regulations will face firm action.
