Telangana Strengthens Food Safety in Schools and Hostels

Special Officers Deployed to Monitor Institutions

Reacting to recent food poisoning cases in Telangana’s educational institutions, Hyderabad District Collector Anudeep Durishetty appointed 82 special officers to oversee 164 residential schools and hostels. The initiative prioritizes sanitation and hygiene, aiming to safeguard the health and well-being of students.

Officials Conduct On-Site Inspection

Collector Durishetty, along with Secunderabad Cantonment MLA Sriganesh Narayanan, visited the TGSWREIS (Telangana Social Welfare Residential Educational Institutions Society) Junior College for Girls in Mahendra Hills, Secunderabad, to review conditions firsthand. They urged hostel authorities to treat students as a family by offering nutritious meals aligned with standardized menus and providing quality education. Both officials highlighted the government’s commitment to student welfare, noting a 40% increase in meal budgets to improve nutritional standards and promote healthier living conditions.

Hygiene and Food Quality Evaluated

During their visit, the officials inspected the kitchen, storage areas, and food records. They assessed the quality of essential items such as rice, lentils, vegetables, and spices while evaluating the cleanliness of cooking tools and food preparation areas. They directed hostel staff to maintain strict hygiene practices and implement preventive measures to protect students from health risks. This proactive approach demonstrates the administration’s dedication to ensuring a safe and healthy environment in educational institutions.
