The Empire Group of Restaurants has stopped using the synthetic food colour Sunset Yellow FCF in its kebab marinade. The decision follows a notice from the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) on the use of synthetic colours in food. Although FSSAI approves Sunset Yellow FCF and it remains widely used in the industry, Empire confirmed it has complied with the directive. The chain assured customers that its dishes now have a natural look without compromising on taste, highlighting its commitment to food safety and hygiene.
FSSAI Notice Spurs Shift to Natural Look, Same Taste
“We’ve made this change to prioritise consumer health without affecting the flavour or quality of our signature Kebab Marinade,” the restaurant group noted in its statement. The decision comes amid growing regulatory focus on synthetic additives in food, as authorities continue to encourage cleaner and more transparent food practices in the restaurant industry.
