Health and Food Safety Department officials inspected a popular cocktail outlet near Caltex N.S. Talkies in Kannur on Wednesday (September 23) following complaints of suspected food poisoning among customers who consumed cocktails from the establishment.

Customers Fall Ill After Consuming Beverage

The complaints relate to an incident on September 21, when seven members of a family from Kannur reportedly consumed a cocktail from the outlet and later developed health problems. They sought treatment at the Kolachery Primary Health Centre, following which the matter was reported to the Health Department.

A later report said eight people were hospitalised after reportedly experiencing health problems following consumption of the beverage. The affected individuals included children, and those who sought treatment were reportedly kept under observation.

Samples Sent for Testing

Following the complaints, Food Safety officials inspected the outlet, collected samples and sent them to a laboratory for further testing. Officials said they would take further action after receiving the test results and completing the inspection process.
