Food Poisoning Incident at Thane Civic School: 41 Students Hospitalized

Report

A civic school in Thane hospitalized forty-one students after they exhibited signs of food poisoning on Thursday as stated by an official.

The children at the school in the Diva-Agasan area complained of stomach aches after lunch. A senior official from the Thane Municipal Corporation (TMC) assured the public that they have the situation under control.

The corporation-run Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Hospital in Kalwa dispatched a team of medical professionals to the school to provide initial medical care.

Deputy Municipal Commissioner (Health) G.G. Godepure confirmed that the hospital later admitted the 41 students for monitoring.

Health Scare Over Mid-day Meal

TMC Commissioner Saurabh Rao explained that the issue arose when students in grades five to seven consumed the ‘khichdi’ provided during the mid-day meal.

He added that all students are currently in stable condition.

The TMC leader announced that FDA officials visited the kitchen, inspected other cooking areas, and collected samples of the khichdi. Rao stated that authorities will take action following the investigation.
