Food Safety Inspections Reveal Violations at Secunderabad Shawarma Outlets

Report

The task force teams from the Telangana Commissioner of Food Safety inspected several shawarma outlets in the Secunderabad region on October 16 (Wednesday), to ensure compliance with food safety standards.

The teams conducted inspections at Mujtaba Grills in East Marredpally, Shasha Shandar Shawarma at Paradise Metro Station, Rolls on Wheels at Paradise Metro Station, Sync Shawarma at Secunderabad East Metro Station, and Asian Chow in Secunderabad.

Identified Violations

The raids revealed several violations.  Shasha Shawarma operated without a valid Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) permit. Additionally, Mujtaba Grills and Rolls on Wheels failed to display their FSSAI permits prominently inside their establishments. The medical records for staff handling food and the lack of proof of pest control measures were also absent. The inspectors also raised concerns about the hygiene standards of the outlets.

The teams also discovered and disposed of artificial food dyes on the premises. They noted improper food storage practices, including inadequate labelling and the mixing of vegetarian and non-vegetarian items. Perishable items such as paneer and meat were found without proper use-by-date labels, according to a press release.
