Food Safety Inspections Across District
The Gautam Budh Nagar district administration, Uttar Pradesh has initiated surprise inspections and extensive food sampling to ensure the availability of safe, unadulterated food ahead of Holi on March 14. As the consumption of traditional foods surges during these festivities, the administration is prioritizing safety to prevent health hazards.
Focus on Key Food Items
District Magistrate Manish Kumar Verma has directed food safety officers to focus on sweets, dairy products, cooking oils, and beverages in both urban and rural areas. He has asked them to pay special attention to fasting ingredients like kuttu ka atta (buckwheat flour), singhada atta (water chestnut flour), and bhagar (barnyard millet), which people commonly consume during festivities like Holi and Navratri.
Strict Legal Action Against Adulteration
Authorities have warned that they will take strict legal action under the Food Safety and Standards Act, 2006, against any food found to be substandard or unsafe. Food samples will undergo laboratory testing, and offenders will face fines of up to ₹5,00,000 if adulteration is confirmed. The district administration remains committed to ensuring public health and safety during the festivities.
