Report
Walmart has recalled over 12,000 cartons of Great Value Chicken Broth in various states across the U.S. due to potential packaging defects that could impact consumer health. The recall affects 48-ounce cartons of chicken broth sold at 242 locations in nine states, including Georgia, Louisiana, Missouri, Mississippi, Oklahoma, Tennessee, and Texas.
Why Is Walmart Recalling the Chicken Broth?
The recall involves 12,138 cartons of Great Value Chicken Broth sold in 48-ounce paper containers. Walmart pulled the products because packaging defects could compromise the broth’s sterility, potentially leading to spoilage. The affected cartons have a “best used by” date of March 25, 2026, and display the UPC code “007874206684.” So far, no illnesses have been reported from consuming the recalled product.
A Walmart spokesperson told Fox News that customer safety is a top priority. “Once we became aware of the issue, we acted quickly to remove all affected products from impacted stores,” the spokesperson stated. Walmart is working with the supplier to investigate the problem. While Walmart announced the recall on December 11, the FDA posted the notice on its website on January 8.
What Should Consumers Do?
Consumers who have purchased the recalled chicken broth should dispose of the product or return it for a full refund. Since the product is susceptible to spoilage, consuming it could lead to food poisoning. Anyone who has ingested the product and is experiencing symptoms should contact their healthcare provider immediately. Consumers can report health concerns related to the recall via the FDA’s online safety reporting portal.
