Key Development
Union Minister Chirag Paswan on Wednesday stressed that regulatory bodies like the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) play a crucial role in promoting processed foods by ensuring strict adherence to quality standards. Speaking at the curtain raiser for World Food India 2025, organised by the Ministry of Food Processing Industries (MoFPI), Government of India, from September 25 to 28 in New Delhi, Paswan urged stakeholders to counter misconceptions about processed food. “We still assume that only fresh food benefits health,” he said. “With misleading ads and fake narratives spreading rapidly, we must correct these myths about food processing.”
Food Processing Adds Value, Ensures Safety
Paswan clarified that processing does not strip food of nutrition or quality. “We add value to food through processing,” he explained. “Regulatory bodies like FSSAI ensure that processed food reaching consumers remains safe and healthy.” He highlighted that food processing can increase farmer incomes and create job opportunities for India’s youth, strengthening both rural and urban economies.
World Food India 2025 Set to Break Records
The fourth edition of World Food India 2025 promises to be the largest yet, with participation expected from over 90 countries, 2,000+ exhibitors, and thousands of stakeholders from across the food value chain—from farm to fork.
